Why Winter is Popular for Cosmetic Plastic Surgery!

winter popular cosmetic plastic surgeryTo maximize the results from cosmetic surgery, it is important to plan according to the season, says Dr. Golshani, Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon. It is rational to undergo certain cosmetic procedures during certain months of the year to conceal the scars and swelling, allow enough time for safe recovery, and provide an appropriate alibi if you wish to keep your surgical procedure hidden from some people.

“it is important to plan according to the season.”

Why Winter is the Perfect Time for Plastic Surgery

But universally, the winter months, from mid-December through to March, present the perfect time to undergo any type of cosmetic procedure, from liposuction to facelift. The fact that the cooler weather requires bulkier clothing means that you can conveniently conceal bruising, swelling and bandages, and avoid the damaging effect from exposure to the sun.

Items like scarves, hats, and turtlenecks hide the effects of rhinoplasty, eyelid tuck, facelift, brow lift, and laser resurfacing. Bulky sweaters and trousers, on the other hand, can easily camouflage the obvious change in body habits from tummy tuck or liposuction, breast reduction, or breast augmentation.

Also, the long holiday weekends around the Christmas and New Year festivities contribute further time off so you have enough time to recover from the procedure without taking extra leave from work, even as you hide away from colleagues, friends, and family.

That said, there are a couple cosmetic procedures that mostly occur during wintertime:

Chemical peels and other laser procedures.
The cooler winter months make it easier to have less contact with the sun, and you can easily stay sheltered for one to two weeks after treatment. Additionally, your winter wardrobe should keep you completely covered up, exposing less skin and increasing your chances for exceptional post-surgery success.

Laser hair removal.
Sunspot removal procedures generally require that you don’t tan your skin. Lasers generally target different pigmented structures on the patient’s skin. If there’s background skin pigmentation, like a tan, the procedure will require much lower energies to be used over a greater number of treatment sessions.

Since the chances of laying out in the sun on a beach or by a pool are very low during the winter months, and many people are realizing that tanning beds can be quite unhealthy, your skin should be bright and perfect for lasers to target sun damages areas of hair follicles on the skin.

Sclerotherapy.
Winter is also a great time for the treatment of unwanted varicose veins and spider veins on the legs. Sclerotherapy involves the injection of a solution into the visible veins to cause them to collapse, followed by compression to help prevent them from returning to their original state.

It is recommended that patients wear compression hose after the procedure to optimize the outcome. This is much easier in winter than in the hot summer sun.

Final Note
Winter is a great time for many cosmetic procedures & not just the examples listed above. You can have exponential success if you properly follow post-procedure instructions. You can also take the opportunity to diet, exercise, or change your hairstyle for a complete transformation.
